Coimbatore
: Sunday, 5th July 2009 : With little respite from the rain
gods the hardcore drivers had to negotiate against strong cross
winds in the second day of the round three of JK Tyre FMSCI National
Racing Championship here today.
Amongst
the three events held today, Formula Rolon Chevrolet category, the
feature of the championship evinced great interest but the crowd
favourite, Ashwin Sundar driving for Team
Speed NK Racing had a strong start and kept away from the
rest of the field before clinching the title to remain as the sole
leader for the Championship title.
Chennai
lad Ashwin Sundar stuck to his game plan of gaining
an enviable and massive lead from the word go and then finish the
end in his inimitable style, leaving the field to other drivers
battle out for placings and minor points. Ashwin finishing
the race in such a quick time made everyone do the guess work as
to whether it was the biggest win in recent history. The second
and third places kept changing till the 4th lap after which independent
racer Saran Vikram from Chennai got hold of the
second place although he was still far behind Ashwin.
From the 5th lap onwards it was Saran and Gaurav
Dalal of Team Red Rooster in the second
and third places which they retained till the end.
Formula
LGB Swift
Bangalore lad
Sudarshana Rao from Team TVS Girling was
in his elements as he came up with a scintillating performance to
notch up a rousing win. Getting off to good start from pole, Sudarshana
raced away to build a huge lead giving no chance to his
nearest rival Ajay Kini of Chennai. However Ajay
Kini was excluded for trying to overtake when the yellow
flag was shown. Ajay’s exit helped R.
Deepak move up to second place and brought into the third
place last year’s junior cup champion Gokul Krishna
from Wallace Sports.
