4th Round of 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship
to begin on August 1- 2, 2009 in Chennai

Ashwin Sundar leads the premium class Formula Rolon & Sudarshana Rao
heads the championship table in Formula Swift

Chennai, July 29, 2009: Chennai will play the host for the 4th round of 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship between August 1-2, 2009 at Madras Motor Race Track. The 3.717 km track has the longest straight of 250 meters long and features 10 large bends which are the means of preventing excessive speeds and increase in the cars performance.


This round would also provide an opportunity to the motorsports enthusiasts’ women in Chennai to witness Indian formula car racing. The JK Tyre Duchess Club All Women Car Rally will be flagged off on Sunday morning from Chennai city and will take a stop at the race track. In an endeavour to bring the impending sport closer to women, JK Tyre actively partners All Women Rallies in Chennai and Trichy.


On Saturday August 1, apart from the qualifying sessions, one race in each of the main categories - Formula LGB Swift and Formula Rolon Chevrolet will be held. In addition, the endurance race of Formula LGB Hyundai, one race each of Super bike and Super saloon classes have also been scheduled. The remaining races will be held on Sunday, August 2. The high profile teams in this year’s championship are NK Racing, Team Wallace Sports, Rams Racing, Prime Racing, Red Rooster and Meco Motor Sports. Each round has two races and the grid for the second race is decided on the second best timings of the qualifying session.

Formula Rolon Chevrolet

As the battle for the supreme title in the premium class hots up, the lead has changed hands once again. The current leader is India ’s young sensation and Chennai lad Ashwin Sundar from Team Speed NK Racing who with his spectacular displays in the last two rounds has garnered 32 points. Giving a tough fight to Ashwin is yet another very promising youngster from Hyderabad and Team Red Rooster, Akhil Kushlani, who has notched up 28 points. Independent driver, Saran Vikram, with a series of consistent performances is in the third place with 24 points. Among those who will also be seen in action in this category are promising youngsters like Ajay Kini and Shankar Narayanan. Team Red Rooster heads the team championship table with 48 points. Team Amaron Pro Racing with Meco and Team NK Racing are in second and third places with 38 and 32 points respectively.
