Pramila and Lita & Team triumph in Expert's Class
Honors for Kavitha & Padmaja and Prema & Aishwarya in Regular & Novice Classes respectively

Chennai’s most popular annual fun event in motor sports for the fairer sex – the all womens’ car rally – was held in Chennai yesterday. The rally organized by Madras Motor Sports Club for the 20th time in as many years saw JK Tyre sponsoring this event for the second successive year. The theme for this year’s rally was ‘friendship’ as it coincided with Friendship Day. Many of the teams turned in outfits supporting the theme while some had their vehicles dressed aptly with stickers, potted plants etc. Radio City (91.1 FM) was the radio partner.

Based on a Time, Speed and Distance format (TSD), the rally had over 60 competitors covering Chennai city and its outskirts over a distance of 91 kilometers in a period of approximately three and half hours. With the lunch break point for the rally being the Madras Motor Race Track near Sriperumbudur, the participants got an opportunity to witness a couple races of the 4th round of the country’s premier national racing championship for formula cars - JK Tyre FMSCI National racing Championship 2009.

The driver navigator combination of Pramila Jacob and Lita Srinivasan emerged triumphant in the Experts category with a tally of 20 bonus points. Finishing in second place was the combination of Raji Divakar and Minnie Amirapu and with 15 penalty points. Rekha Reddy and Preeti Damani finished third with 23 penalty points. The pair of Kavitha Srinath and Padmaja Rao took the honors in the Regular category with a total of 12+ bonus points followed by the team of Vanitha Mahesh and Ashley Thomas with 12 bonus points. Coming in 3rd place was the team of Kiran Uttam and Jayanthi Murugesh who notched up 9 bonus points.. The driver navigator team of K.Prema and S.Aishwarya were the winners in the Novice category with a score of 5 bonus points. Coming in second was the team of Aruna R Krishnan and Samyuktha Baliga with 1 penalty point while Nirmala and Vasanthi had to settle for third place with 10 penalty points.

Well know television artist and compere Mrs. Uma Padmabhan and Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head of Motor sports, JK Tyre and Industries Limited, gave away the prizes to the winners.
