Battles for honors intensify as Championship remains wide open

Seldom in the history of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Road Racing Championship has the point positions been as close as witnessed in this year’s races. The four rounds - two at Chennai and two at Coimbatore - held in the current season’s championship has thrown up tough challenges. With two more rounds to be completed to spot the Champion Drivers and the Champion Teams, no single driver can afford to relax as the leaders in three of the four categories have to exert themselves to place themselves in order to be sure in contention for retaining or annexing the titles.

The stage is now set for an exciting weekend with the penultimate round of this premium national event - 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship - scheduled for 12th and 13th September at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irungaatukottai near Chennai. The qualifying sessions and one race in each category will be held on Saturday, 12th and the remaining races on Sunday, 13th September.

Former champion in both Formula LGB Swift and Formula LGB Hyundai category, Ashwin Sundar racing for Speed NK Racing has been one of the top contenders in the premium Formula Rolon Chevrolet category. However with his international racing commitments hampering his participation here the field has now become wide open. However Ashwin will be back in action in this round which is bound to make the contest more thrilling. With the championship lead changing hand after every round, it is now the turn of independent driver Saran Vikram to head the table with 35 points at the end of Round 4. Gaurav Dalal from Team Red Rooster with his double win in the last round has forced his way back into the top three and is now place second with 34 points. While Ashwin Sundar is currently placed third with 32 points, Gaurav’s team mate Akhil Khuslani is just four points away at 28. Saran Vikram will be going all out to improve upon his performance in the look out for sponsors for next season. All the three drivers in the top 3 are separated by just 1 and 2 points from each to other. Team Red Rooster heads the team championship tables with 74 points. Amaron with Meco is in second place with 51 points followed by Speed NK Racing with 48 points.

Lanson Toyota Car Fun Rally : 13th September 2009

The sixth edition of the Lanson Toyota Car Fun Rally originally scheduled to be held on Sunday 30th August 2008, will now be held on Sunday, 13th September 2009.

The event organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club will be run on a Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) format and will cover a distance of approximately 80 kms in about 3 hours within Chennai city and its suburbs. This year apart from General, Ladies, Toyota Owners, Novice categories, a special College Students category is being introduced to encourage college students to take part in the rally.

Lanson Toyota will be the main sponsor for this event that while Kaya Skin Clinic are the Associate Sponsors. Country Inn & Suites are going to be the F&B partners while Radio Mirchi will be the radio partners.
