1, 2009: The Kari Motor Speedway once again will be playing
host for the final time this year for the third round of 12th edition
of India’s premier motor sport championship - JK Tyre
FMSCI National Racing Championship - scheduled on July 4-5.
The
premier national championship has taken the Indian motor sports to greater
heights with the championship all set to unleash a new crop of talented
youngsters ready to make their mark both at the national and international
levels. With 2.1 km long, the Kari Speedway tracks calls for acceleration
rather than top speed to exit faster through corners. Even the braking
finesse is vital at the end of the main runway straight before the first
right hand corner
On
July 4, the qualifying sessions and Race 1 of categories - Formula LGB
Swift and Formula Rolon Chevrolet will be held. In addition, endurance
race of Formula LGB Hyundai, one race each of Super bike and Super Saloon
classes are also scheduled. The super bike races will feature some of
the country’s top international riders. The remaining races will
be held on Sunday, July 5. The high profile teams in this year’s
championship are NK Racing, Team Wallace Sports, Rams Racing, Prime
Racing, Red Rooster and Meco Motor Sports. Each round has two races
and the grid for the second race is decided on the second best timings
of the qualifying session.

Rolon Chevrolet
The
battle for supremacy in the premium class continues with the lead changing
hand after the second round. It is now Sarosh Hataria of
Amaron Pro Racing with Meco who leads currently in the championship
with a tally of 19 points. Ashwin Sundar of Team
NK Racing is in second place with 17 points while last year’s
champion Gaurav Dalal of Team Red Rooster and
independent driver Saran Vikram share the third place
with 16 points each. Also in action in this category are promising youngsters
like Ajay Kini, Diljith, Saahil
Shelar and Shankar Narayanan. Team
Red Rooster heads the team championship table with 46 points.
Team Amaron Pro Racing with Meco and Team NK
Racing are in second and third places with 21 and 17 points
respectively.

LGB Swift
Sudarshana
Rao of Team TVS Girling continues to head
the championship table with a tally of 36 points and is closely followed
by Prithveen Rajan of Wallace Sports with
32 points. Prithveen’s team mate and former Junior Cup Champion
Gautam Parekh is in third place with 19 points. TVS
Girling leads in the team championship with a total of 57 points
while Wallace Sports is in second place with 53 points.
Also in action in this class will be Gokul Krishna of
Wallace Sports who scorched the tracks in a record
breaking feat in December’s JK Tyre Junior Cup and Pragyajothi
(from Guwahati) Runner up in the Junior Cup.

Rajan of Wallace Sports heads the championship
table with 18 points followed by the duo from Team Rams Racing
- Akhil Devarag and S.Narendran -
with 14 and 13 points respectively. Team Rams Racing heads
the championship table having notched up 30 points followed by Wallace
Sports with 23 points. Titled as JK Tyre FMSCI National
Enduro Championship, the event is a 45 minute affair with a
single driver per car who will drive with entire stretch with a provision
for one pit stop.

Vijaya Kumar of Prime Sports currently heads
the table with 28 points followed by Radha Selvarajan with
20 points. D. Vidya Prakash of Team Prime Racing
is in third place with 18 points. Team Prime Racing
from Coimbatore heads the championship table with 61 points
followed by Chennai team Rad Racing with 28 points.
With no restrictions in this class the seniors and the young shots have
provided exciting racing in the first two rounds.

Bikes
In
the Super Bike classes, Mazhar Ahmed, Gopinandhan
and K.V Balaji lead in the 1000 cc class,
600 cc expert and general categories with 32 points apiece.
