JK Tyre presents FASTRAK '09 Women's Car Rally in Trichy

Trichy, July 17, 2009: In a constant initiative to promote motorsports at a grassroot level JK Tyre, and Aura, Trichy based forum for women, have teamed up to organise Fastrak 2009 Women's Car Rally. The 60+ kilometers TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) Rally will be held on July 26 in the City Suburbs over a period of 2.5 hours. The event is open for cars of all engine capacities and categories including diesel cars and jeeps. The event will be flagged off by celebrities from the premises of Hotel Sangam.

Aura is a Trichy based women forum which includes Doctors, House wives, Teachers and women from all aspects who have come together to organise this rally. The first rally in 2007 witnessed tremendous response, hence came the idea to conduct this rally annually. We have received encouraging number of entries and are thrilled to see the level of enthusiasm in the Tier II city.

Mr. Santhanam, Area Manager, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., said, “I congratulate Aura, participants and media fraternity; who in their efforts made this event an exciting and memorable experience and are now geared up to present the third year with same enthusiasm and spirit. JK Tyre has a long term sustained approach to promote motorsports in the country. The company has been actively associated with various national and international level motorsport events in the country. It has built a complete infrastructure to attract budding talent to this sport and guide them at every stage to reach international milestones.

He added, “We have been promoting and encouraging women in motorsports and have been active partners in organizing the prestigious All Women Rally in Chennai. We feel that greater attention towards such sport activities could translate into a new spirit of innovation and competition in the country.”

The objective of the All Women Car Rally is to impart driving and navigational skills to Aura members and to women at large. The rally will have participation from more than 80 cars with more than 40 percent of the entries being debutants in motorsport.

The rally will be held in 3 categories – Expert, Regular and Novice and is co sponsored by ABC Hospitals and Canara Bank.
