Chennai, 20th March 2009 : A car rally for the blind will be held at Chennai on 29th March 2009. The rally is sponsored by Savera Group of Hotels. The rally is approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and is organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club & National Association for the blind.

The rally is based on the TSD (Time, Speed & Distance) format wherein the competitors are expected to arrive at all Time Controls (TC) at scheduled times and direction. Early arrival will attract more penalties than late arrival to discourage speeding. The event will run through the main roads of Chennai and its neighborhood. On grounds of safety, the maximum speed shall not exceed 45 kmph.

The highlight of this event is one which has a social message attached; to help a visually handicapped person enjoy the thrills of a motor sport event and give them a feeling of belongingness to the mainstream of life. The FMSCI as a principle has waived the permit fees / competition license fees for this event with a social cause.

By participating in this event you give something special to the visually handicapped navigator who will be reading out the instructions in Braille.

The drivers will be classified as

Experts : If a team member has been on a TSD rally winning team earlier
Regulars are those who have participated in TSD rallies, but not won.
Novices are those who are atking part for the first time.All persons in the car must be taking part for the first time.
All ladies teams must consist of all ladies..

Anyone with a civil driving license can take part. There is no restriction on the make/type of car to be used.
